Jaime Serrano-Rosario, 55, was arrested without incident by detectives of the Berks County Drug Task Force on Thursday, Oct. 17, according to the Berks County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities found 5,348 packets of heroin/fentanyl, five grams of bulk heroin/fentanyl, a .38 caliber Derringer loaded handgun, and $2,035 in cash at Serrano-Rosario's residence, authorities said. The street value of the heroin/fentanyl seized is about $27,115.
The investigation began in August when Berks County Detectives received information that Serrano-Rosario was dealing drugs, according to the district attorney's office.
Detectives determined he was a "street-level" to "mid-level" dealer distributing heroin/fentanyl within Berks County, using his residence at 1520 Cotton Street as a base of operations, the district attorney's office said.
A search warrant was issued for Serrano-Rosario's residence, leading to the Thursday, Oct. 17 bust, according to authorities.
The City of Reading Police Department, Vice, and K-9 units assisted in the investigation, the district attorney's office said.
Serrano-Rosario was charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
He was charged and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center where he is awaiting arraignment by the on-duty Magisterial District Judge, authorities said. His current docket was not available at the time of publication.
Serrano-Rosario has two prior drug possession charges from May 2009 and November 2015, according to court documents.
